Written language however was two different things. Number one, what changed was the emotional load or the emotional impact of the stories, going from emotion to intellect. It changes the nature of how people learn about the world, and to Socrates’ argument, not for the better. His other critique was that the written word can't talk back. It never changes, no matter how many times you read the same story, it's always the same. Whereas if you told me the story, then we can actually have a discussion around it.
