Penny found Anita’s crying easier to take at naptime than at night. “I wasn’t so exhausted; I wasn’t trying to sleep myself,” she said. “And I knew Anita was exhausted; I knew she really needed this nap. That allowed me to put up with some crying. She cried for forty-five minutes once, but that was the worst. Usually it was twenty to thirty minutes, and even that stopped in a week and a half.” Anita began sleeping for a solid hour, and then gradually extended her nap to an hour and a half. (Location 2524)
